BASILISK: 2011 GoodReads Choice Awards Nominee

Okay Reavers, so… it looks like you can also write in your nominations and vote for who you write in. Well, as awesome as Rob treats her fans and after the brush-with-death she faced this year, I went ahead and wrote her in for Best AUTHOR, too. If you want the same, click here. You will need to write in Rob Thurman Basilisk and it will automatically pull up her name and the book for you. Hit submit and “boom,” there”s your write-in nomination. Thank you for indulging the resident Reaver Webmistress. -Jayda

CHIMERA: The CHIMERA Novels, Book 1

It’s Friday. I’m wishing I was out seeing the movie Red, but I’m in ratty sweats with bed hair writing my ass off, because that’s what being a writer is most of the time: missing movies and lunches with friends, working seven days a week in a job with no health insurance, no sick time, no vacation time, and no retirement benefits. So while Michael refuses to cooperate in CHIMERA 2 (BASILISK), I need me some ego boosting, people. I’m feeling low. Probably the only person feeling lower is that jack-ass George Takei called a douche-bag (you rock, George.) I’ll give away one signed (if you want it signed) CHIMERA today. Contest ends at midnight for those who work...

Excerpt CHIMERA 2: Tentative Title BASILISK

BASILISK: The CHIMERA Novels, Book 2

And so… I decided to give CHIMERA fans a sneak peek at the sequel (tentatively titled BASILISK… if you don’t know why then re-read CHIMERA, look for a clue, and Wiki it if you still don’t know.) It’s from Michael’s POV instead of Stefan’s. I wanted to see him discover what it’s like to be a genuine person… not a kid raised to be an assassin in the Institute. It’s a very different POV as Stefan is an ex-Russian mafioso and Michael, Stefan’s kidnapped brother, is a trained (but utterly reluctant) assassin with no knowledge he can remember of the outside world. This is two and a half years later when Michael and Stefan have settled in a small...

RobThurman.net: CHIMERA Video Thumbnail

The video for CHIMERA is now live on the web… I’d go on and on about how fantastic it is, but I think you’ll be able to see that for yourself.  And Stefan… oh yeah… oh yeaaaah. It’s truly brilliant. If I didn’t know it was a book video, I’d be saying, damn, when’s that movie coming out?? (you can’t tell me it doesn’t beat Piranha 3D.) Also is an article on kick-ass fantasy art on io9 that includes Chris McGrath as one of the artists with TRICK OF THE LIGHT as one of the covers. Can’t beat that shit!

"Jumping the Snark"

CHIMERA: The CHIMERA Novels, Book 1

The below article on me is by the great Paul Goat Allen who all but runs B&N and it’s fucking fantastic. Jumping the Snark: The Illegitimate Love Child of Lenny Bruce and H.P. Lovecraft Evolves by paulgoatallen “It takes courage to push yourself to places that you have never been before… to test your limits… to break through barriers. And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” – Anais Nin ———————————————————————————————— – I review a lot of paranormal fantasy and, for me, a large part of the attraction of seeking out and reading these kinds of novels is the freshness of storyline,...
