Hello Reavers, Rob’s life has been touched by yet another tragedy – the Indiana tornadoes. Thank everything in the Universe, Rob, her mother and her house were left standing, but the “town proper” – her entire town – was annihilated by this thing. This is one of those cases where living so far out in the country was more of a blessing than a curse. Although, she did tell me a house a few miles down the road from her did lose its roof. She was extremely lucky in this whole situation. I shudder to think of what may have happened had she lived “in town.” Many people are dead and she reported...

If I Could, I'd Bake You a Cake That Looks Like THIS! -Pinky

Reaver Army!! It’s Rob Thurman’s birthday – everybody doggie-pile the well-wishes and virtual presents on our favorite feisty Valkyrie author… oh, and buy a bunch of her books, too – that’s the best present one can give to a writer. We love you, Rob! -Jayda

All Hail King Ralphy

Dakota, my werewolf superhero and partner in crime, has been gone a while now. While the memories will never fade, someone has stepped up to handle what duties he can. Meet GOD-KING-EMPEROR Ralphy. Fear him. His ears detect sonar, his nose a morsel of food 2000 miles away, and his bark shatters glass. You may now bow and toss milkbones in his royal path.

SDCC - Me As Lady Deadpool

Rob is off all machines and expected to finally, FINALLY come home by tomorrow or over the weekend. I don't know when she'll be online or available to the world-at-large again, but none of that matters, right? We just want her to take her time healing and getting herself all ready for "The Big Comeback!" ;)

Being Rob Thurman: Appreciating Science Fiction/Fantasy’s Hardest Working Author

This blog post from B&N’s Paul Goat Allen is just so beautiful and perfect. It will make you laugh and a little teary-eyed… teary-eyed in a GOOD way. The best possible way… -J. “Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.” – Voltaire It’s sad but sometimes it takes a tragedy – or a near tragedy – for us to truly appreciate what we have. Take prolific science fiction and urban fantasy novelist Rob Thurman for example. A few weeks ago, she almost died in a car accident… Rob is so much more than a gifted writer – she is a person that I’ve come to cherish in the years since...

Rob Almost Out of the Woods!

"Valkyrie" by Edli on Deviant Art

Just got off the phone with Rob’s mother, and I haven’t heard her so upbeat this entire difficult time. Rob is really, REALLY getting there – at about a 95% recovery as of today. The doctors still need to keep a very close eye on a few things, so Rob will be in the hospital yet for a while. They will also begin physical rehabilitation this week. Her mother wanted me to thank you all from the bottom of her heart for all of the love, healing, prayers and support. She and I both know it’s definitely made all the difference in Rob’s progress. Keep it all going strong, so that when Rob busts through that finish line, she...

No Real News on Rob’s Progress…

Posted 02 Sep 2011 in Blog, News

Hi Everyone, Haven’t heard from Rob’s mother, which means no real changes to be excited about or worried over. Again – stable news is good news. Everyone at Dragon*Con: stop by her booth and buy a book or two. That way, she can be with you in sprit as she continues to heal across the miles. Love, Hugs & Happy Friday, -Jayda

Our Valkyrie Rob Thurman is Holding Steady…

"Valkyrie" by Edli on Deviant Art

Hi Everyone, Well, our feisty redhead is just kinda treading water. No more big improvements since The Moment of Awesome the other day. I’ll take this as a good sign, though: her body is recovering slowly, but it IS recovering. As long as she doesn’t decline, in my opinion, we’re golden. The body knows what it needs to heal, and often, time is the most important factor. Time and rest. For those of you who have asked about flowers and gifts, her mother appreciates your kindness and thoughtfulness, but Rob is still in ICU and unable to have anything in her room. Also, when I personally put myself in Rob and her mother’s shoes, I had a bit of an...

And Now… a BIG Step Forward for Rob

"Valkyrie" by Edli on Deviant Art

Picture this: Rob sitting up with a long, red-haired braid hanging down over one shoulder. Awake, aware and not hooked up to a ventilator anymore. Her mother’s description put so much joy into my heart, tears were streaming down my face as she gave me today’s report. And I also couldn’t help but immediately visualize Rob as an ass-kicking valkyrie! As amazing as this news is, she is still not quite fully recovered, and there is more medical work to be done, so we’re not out of the woods, but damn, damn, close. So close, I may actually sleep decently for the first time in over a week! As soon as I find out where/when she can receive cards,...

Another Small Step Forward for Rob

Posted 27 Aug 2011 in Blog, News

Okay everyone, she’s off the ventilator! This is VERY good news. She is disoriented right now, not quite sure what is going on, but as much as she’s been sleeping and/or sedated, that does not surprise me. The doctors feel she should be clearer-minded by tomorrow. For those who’ve asked, she is not yet in a room to which flowers/gifts/cards can be delivered. As soon as she is and if her mother feels it isn’t detrimental to Rob’s security and recovery to volunteer that kind of information publicly, I will share that the moment I can. If for some reason she will not be in a position to receive gifts, just keep doing what you’re doing: sending love, light,...
