Goodreads Choice Round Two: Vote for Rob Thurman in Best Author AND Best Science Fiction!

BASILISK: 2011 GoodReads Choice Awards NomineeReaver Army,

Thanks to you, Rob Thurman is still kicking ass and taking names in the Goodreads Choice Awards!

BASILISK is now in the semi-final round for Best Science Fiction, and… and… are y’ready for this?

You all were incredible in writing in your votes for Best Author because… guess what? Rob is now a nominee in the Best Author Category, too! Check her out on that sexy list along with Jim Butcher, Ilona Andrews, Richelle Mead and Cassandra Clarke. This is a huge deal, and I cannot thank you enough for writing her into a category that we all know she so deserved to be nominated in.

Now then, once again, we need your votes to get Rob into the finals! The polls are only open for a week this time. So head on over to Goodreads and vote for BASILISK in Science Fiction and Rob Thurman as Best Author.

Congratulations Rob!

And Reaver Army: You. Frakking. Rawk.

xoxo,
-Jayda

Varanosh – there are three rounds to this… if you voted the last time I blogged about it, great, you helped Rob get into round two! ;)

Now that we’re IN round two, we need your votes [again] for round two.

Once she’s in round three, we’ll need to ask for votes a third time… :)

Voted — I hope she wins!

I’m a big fan of Mead & Andrews, but even though I’ve only read “Chimera” as I discovered her quite recently, Rob got my votes. She earned my vote by becoming one of my favorites within a few chapters. She eerily nailed what it’s like to be a teen that’s been traumatized by a life of painful/scary invasive medical procedures (in my now-thirtysomething case, for birth defects). I hope she wasn’t writing from experience, didn’t have any similarly awful experiences while in the hospital recently and stays far away from any such places for a good long time!

Oh, something I read by Terry Pratchett yesterday that reminds me of what little I’ve read of Nightlife thus far, though as a fantasy author, his are humanoid & magic-wielding:
“Elves are wonderful. They provoke wonder.
Elves are marvelous. They cause marvels.
Elves are fantastic. They create fantasies.
Elves are glamorous. They project glamour.
Elves are enchanting. They weave enchantment.
Elves are terrific. They beget terror.
The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes look for them behind words that have changed their meaning.
No one ever said elves are nice.” — Terry Pratchett, “Lords and Ladies”
